How did you become an expat, and why?
I moved for LOVE! While I was in college I studied abroad and fell in love with an Austrian. We’ve been married for two years and are enjoying Vienna.
Where else have you been an expat?
Just Austria.
Best piece of expat advice you’ve received?
Dr. Mike Moodian, author of Contemporary Leadership and Intercultural Competence: Exploring the Cross-Cultural Dynamics Within Organizations, is a good friend of mine and reminded me that cultural clashes don’t just happen abroad, but at home too. That’s good to remember when you get frustrated.
Best piece of expat advice you’d give?
Get involved in something. Join local groups and have fun meeting people. This will decrease homesickness and loneliness and allow you to discover your new home town through the advise of locals.

Are you planning or dreaming of a move? Are you going home instead? Where to and why?
I am really happy in Vienna and plan to stay for a very long time.
Tell us more about what you do in your location?
I work as a marketing manager for a software company. Vienna is great in that I can easily find English speaking professional positions.
I also have my own business.
Would you recommend your current location to other expats? Does it rock or does it suck?
Vienna is an amazing city that I fall in love with every day. The standard of living is very high.
What is the expat community like where you are?
The expats here are really nice, driven, professional people. Most are here because their job transplanted them. They are curious, funny, and well-informed.

If you haven’t visited the city of Vienna, Austria yet, do so! It is such a beautiful city with so much to offer any traveler.
